Semen Analysis - spermiogram
This screening is intended for all men, who would like to check their present state of fertility.
The sample collected by masturbation after 3 - 5 days of sexual abstinence room, after that it is tested in an andrological laboratory.
The screening is also suitable for men who have been unsuccessfully trying to conceive a child for a long time.
During the examination of the spermiogram, when we evaluate the volume, concentration, mobility and morphology of the sperm, we can also perform an examination of DNA fragmentation of the sperm. This sperm examination enables a more in-depth assessment of sperm quality and complements the conventional sperm analysis - spermiogram. Sperm with damaged DNA may look and move normally, so they cannot be detected by routine examination. Excessive fragmentation (breaking) of sperm DNA fundamentally reduces the chances of successful fertilization and subsequent development of embryos. For proper fertilization of the egg, it is important that the DNA contained in the sperm head is intact.
